The Skagit County Sheriff's Office maintains administration, records, investigations, patrol, K-9, boating, traffic, and search and rescue divisions. It also maintains a corrections division that operates a jail facility and houses more than 6,000 inmates annually. The Skagit County Sheriff's Office has various specialized units, such as Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT), Hostage Rescue Team (HRT), and drug task and proactive forces. In addition, the office undertakes cases related to sex offense, domestic violence, road accidents, business crime and identity theft. Located in Mount Vernon, Wash., the Skagit County Sheriff's Office organizes a variety of community and neighborhood watch programs.
