History
I have been passionate about ceramics since middle and high school. After high school, I studied at the ceramics department at the University of Alaska Anchorage. After years of using this art form to enrich my own life, I decided to open this studio to share my passion with the world!
Specialties
Now supplying the Seattle area with Tacoma Clay Art Center Clays and supplies! Sean's Clay Corner offers small pottery courses and studio access for learning wheel thrown clay arts. The perfect place to unwind and create something with your hands in a busy, technical world! Like all art forms, pottery takes skill and practice. The journey and discovery are all part of the novelty. I am still growing, learning myself, every potter is. When you open a fired kiln or walk into the studio when all of your work has been unloaded and you see all of the finished products that you created, it feels like Christmas! Your first thought is how cool everything is, and then you get this amazing desire to make more! Each pot is an experiment; how is this glaze going to turn out, are my decorations all that I hoped and dreamed; and once you get the results you need to try again! For me, this excitement takes me to another world. Nothing exists outside of the studio and my hands are probably too dirty to touch my phone even if I wanted too. As you can see from my work, I use the pot as a canvas for other art. Sure, your standard pigment based watercolor paints aren't going to work, but finding the perfect mix of yellow iron oxide, a stable blue mason stain, and maybe a little bentonite is half the fun!
