La Ru co-owned Ugly Baby and La Ru for five years in the Pike Place Market. After outgrowing the space, La Ru decided to open a new shop in a larger location, where she could feature other Seattle artists as well as her own line of work. La Ru has been heavily involved in the Seattle art and craft movement for over ten years, doing shows like Urban Craft Uprising, EtsyRain, Fremont Solstice, and I Heart Rummage.

Seattle artist La Ru (Lauren Rudeck) opened Robot vs Sloth to showcase her expanded line of hand-drawn illustrations, prints, t-shirts, DIY kits, enamel pins, and more. In addition to La Ru's work, Robot vs Sloth has a curated selection of local artist from original paintings, prints, stuffed creatures, DIY kits, jewelry, and ceramics.
