Pull A Part is a self-service wrecking yard for backyard mechanics. Customers pay to get inside, find the part they want, strip it off the car themselves and lug it to the cashier. The cars are sorted roughly by make or model, but it's up to you to find the part you want and get it by using your own tools. The prices are worth the occasional scraped knuckle — $8.50 for an alternator, $6.50 for a brake drum and rotor, $11.50 for a power steering pump, for example. The yard has a few strict rules: no kids or pets, no jacks, torches, oxygen bottles, body saws or compressors (battery-powered tools are OK) and no working on cars in the parking lot. There are two other Pull A Part lots, in Arlington and Lynnwood, and you can check their Web site for a complete price list.
