Puget Sound Blood Center has been operational for more than 60 years. Based in Seattle, Puget specializes in research programs in transfusion and transplantation medicine. The center owns and operated more than 10 laboratories throughout Washington, including Gilligan, Josephson, Latchman, Lannutti, L pez, Nelson, Pratt, Reems, and Slichter laboratories. Utilizing state-of-the-art apheresis equipment, it offers a wide variety of patient care services, such as component therapies, cellular depletion and treatments for chronic leukemia, thrombocytosis, and pulmonary and cerebral leukostasis. Additionally, Puget provides inpatient and outpatient Transfusion Services, Peripheral Blood Stem Cell Collection, storage and bedside delivery to patients, and transplantation for malignant and nonmalignant diseases. It offers treatments for breast and ovarian cancer, nonhodgkin's lymphoma, multiple myeloma and red cell exchange.
