Van der Salm Bulb Farm, based in Woodland, Wash., is a wholesale plant company that was founded in 1981 by Jerry van der Salm. The company is one of the largest growers and producers of lily bulbs in the United States. It serves the cut flower industry and the home garden industry with an extensive selection of hybrid Lilium bulbs. It grows the domestic commercial crop of lilies in Hermiston, Ore., where it maintains more than 85 acres of lily bulbs. Van der Salm Bulb Farm also imports lily bulbs from the Netherlands and Chile. The bulbs are shipped by containers and stored in cold rooms under ideal conditions and ready to be shipped year-round. Additionally, the company grows daffodils, hostas, peonies, crocosmias, tulips and other perennial crops. It also maintains a hybridizing program to develop new and improved lily varieties for the garden and cut flower markets.
