History
In 1906, a local group led by real estate agent James McDowell founded the Olympia Building and Loan Association. Sound business practices enabled the organization to weather the depression of the 1930s and in 1934, it adopted its present name, Olympia Federal Savings and Loan Association. Since opening our second branch in 1972 in West Olympia, Oly Fed has expanded to eight branches in Thurston and Mason counties. Although we are now over 110 years old, we certainly don't look our age. With online and mobile banking, innovative checking and lending programs, Oly Fed has changed with the times to serve the needs of our customers. But our commitment to customers and community has remained steadfast.
