Jerry Husted, Jim Husted and Gail Davis formed Nordic Tugs in 1979. The company s parent company was Blue Water Boats, which built double-ended ocean ketches. However, in 1974 a fuel crisis occurred and powerboat owners curtailed from using fuel for pleasure. Husted worked on finding the right boat for the powerboat market and decided on tugboats that naturally moved slow and would save on fuel, but also had muscle in its design to appeal to powerboat buyers. Nordic Tugs took over the facilities and staff of Blue Water Boats in 1981. The company manufacturers a variety of tugboats, including the fuel efficient 32 Nordic Tug model, 37 Nordic Tug model, 42 Nordic Tug model and the 52 Nordic Tug model. The 32 and 37 models are available in single or double cabin layout. Nordic Tugs is headquartered in Burlington, Wash., with authorized dealers in Maryland, California, Michigan, Arkansas and Ontario, Canada.
