Founded in 2001, the NAMI Eastside Family Resource Center is a community-based nonprofit organization that provides services for individuals with developmental disabilities. Its members include families, friends and people with mental illnesses, such as schizophrenia, major depression, and obsessive compulsive and attention deficit hyperactivity disorders. The center offers family-to-family and peer-to-peer programs. The NAMI Eastside Family Resource Center s family-to-family education program is a free 12-week course for family caregivers of individuals with severe mental illnesses. The center s education programs use lectures, interactive exercises and structured group processes to promote awareness, provide information and offer opportunities to reflect on the impact of mental illness. The NAMI Eastside Family Resource Center is located in Redmond, Wash.
