Susan A Hawkins, JD, Psyd
SpecialtiesI am a licensed psychologist with 20 years experience providing psychotherapy and consultation. My approach is gentle, respectful and compassionate, including challenge and encouragement as appropriate. I offer short-term and long-term psychotherapy, emphasizing the development of a warm, empathic therapeutic relationship. My treatment approach is integrative and most influenced by psychoanalytic, humanistic and developmental theories. Psychotherapy involves verbalizing your thoughts and feelings, exploring relational and behavioral patterns, and understanding how past experiences may impact you now. The needs and goals of the individual guide my therapeutic approach. My personal style is down-to-earth and interactive, with an occasional dash of humor. I have extensive experience working with the many human concerns that effect our personal, relational and occupational functioning and life satisfaction. This includes life transitions, relationships, depression and anxiety, bereavement, traumatic experiences, body image and eating concerns, cultural and identity issues, and others. I provide affirmative psychotherapy that values diversity and respects the individual, including gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender individuals and couples. Located in Seattle's Madison Valley, my office is near Capitol Hill, Downtown and Central Seattle, with easy access to public transportation, I-5 and 520. My services are covered as an out-of-network provider with many insurance plans.
