Formed in 1970, the Lynnwood Fire Department works to protect lives and property from fire and medical emergencies and environmental and man-made disasters. It is comprised of more than 45 full-time career firefighters, paramedics and fire inspectors who work to protect over 35,000 residents living in an area of nearly five square miles. The department maintains a fire prevention and public education unit that offers information to residents regarding fire alarm and residential sprinkler systems and outdoor burning policies The Lynnwood Fire Department has a community emergency response team that provides educational classes in first aid, search and rescue and disaster response skills. It operates paramedic and aid units, engines, ladder trucks, air bottle refill vans and support vehicles.
