There's nothing fancy about Lakewood Printing, or its owner, James Barber, a plain-speaking guy who calls himself "just another printer." But a clue to the high-quality printing that emerges from this small shop is the spotless order of his equipment-filled pressroom.
Lakewood Printing specializes in the bread-and-butter jobs businesses can't do without — letterhead, envelopes, business cards and newsletters. But it will also take on anything from a single sheet to a full-color annual report. Barber has been been a printer for 35 years, giving up a larger shop in Los Angeles to buy Lakewood Printing in 1988.
