Ken MacDonald, Fran Hoague, and Alec Bayless founded MacDonald Hoague & Bayless in 1952. MHB soon developed a reputation for solving a wide variety of client problems ranging from simple personal matters to complex constitutional disputes. MHB has a long tradition of activism and participation in organizations such as the American Civil Liberties Union, American Immigration Lawyer's Association, Lawyers Committee for Constitutional Rights, NAACP Legal Defense Fund, National Lawyers Guild, Northwest Immigrant Rights Project, Northwest Women's Law Center, Planned Parenthood, Trial Lawyers for Public Justice, Hate Free Zone, Compassion and Choices, King County Bar Association's Immigration Clinic, Seattle University's Access to Justice Institute, the Iraqi Community Center, Volunteer Advocates for Immigrant Justice, and the University of Washington's Immigrant Families Advocacy Project.
