The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, established in 1853, is one of the oldest law enforcement organizations in the state of Washington. It undertakes cases related to domestic violence, missing persons, noise checks, and accident reporting and crime investigation. The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office also handles issues related to home burglary, assault, stolen vehicles, and child and senior citizen abuse. The sheriff s office supports a cadet program that educates youths to learn tactics, procedures, laws and other daily duties of police officers. Located in Port Hadlock, Wash., the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office employs a staff of more than 55 full-time sworn officers and over 20 civilians and community volunteers.
