History
In 1963, a handful of determined parents created an organization, which would later be called Innovative Services NW, as a place to turn for support for families who had children with disabilities. This led to the creation of what is now Innovative Services NW Employment and Custodial Services to help adults with disabilities find what everyone wants - meaningful employment. Recognizing how important services were for children, a children's therapy center was developed in 1978 to provide physical, occupational, speech and specialty therapies. Childcare centers frequently were not accessible to children with developmental delays. In 1995, an inclusive childcare program that accepted children of all incomes and abilities was opened. In 2000, the family support services offered by the therapy center became Innovative's Youth and Family Services program. Acquiring the Adult Day Health Center in 2006 meant that Innovative offers services from birth through end of life.
