Founded in 1897, the Humane Society for Southwest Washington offers humane pet adoption programs, community education, pet behavior advice and spay assistance. It works in collaboration with local veterinarians and animal rescue groups to provide various animal welfare services. The society offers search assistance for lost and missing pets. It employs full- and part-time staff members and more than 350 volunteers who provide care for orphaned animals. It additionally employs counselors who assist with various pet adoption options. It receives funds from various thrift stores, such as Paws-N-Claws. Located in Vancouver, Wash., the Humane Society for Southwest Washington also operates online pet stores.
