The Grand Army of the Republic Cemetery, owned by the Earl Winehart Post #96 American Legion, has been serving the historic Snohomish area for over a century as the largest Public Memorial Park in the region. Established in 1898 by the Morton Post No. 10, this non-profit cemetery is the only independently active and maintained Civil War Cemetery in the state of Washington, with approximately two hundred Civil War Veterans laid to rest within its grounds.
Partnered with Chronicle Cemetery Software, the G.A.R. Cemetery offers a visually searchable database of interments and headstones, allowing visitors to easily locate their loved ones and upload biographies and photos. Providing a quality burial ground at a reasonable cost, this fully endowed care cemetery continues to honor the memory of those who served in the Civil War and remains a significant historical landmark in the Puget Sound area.
