Benton Franklin Community Action Committee, a nonprofit organization based in Pasco, Wash., was established in 1966 and offers a range of programs that include child care services, training and education and community services. These include homeless programs, adult literacy, emergency shelter, energy assistance, child care training, micro-loan program, child care subsidy and minor home repairs. BFCAC is certified as a Community Housing Development Organization and is eligible for various activities that include acquisition, rehabilitation and new construction of rental housing. The Department of Community, Trade and Economic Development funds all the programs. BFCAC also provides community-based micro-loan programs to improve the availability, quality and affordability of child care for low and moderate income families in Benton, Franklin, Grant, Adams, Klickitat and Walla Walla counties in Washington.
