BECU members are part of a credit union: a not-for-profit financial co-op. Unlike banks, we don't report to shareholders, who expect high returns on their investment. In fact, we don't even have shareholders - we're owned by our members and we exist solely to serve our members. Profits made by BECU are returned to the members in the form of better rates and fewer fees.
We're also driven by the very principle on which we were founded: people helping people. BECU is a major sponsor of events throughout the communities in which we live and work. Our employees are given time off each year to volunteer. And a large portion of our work is to educate, offering self-paced courses, hands-on budgeting seminars, helpful content on our website and free, in-person financial classes.
