Established in 1889, Attorney General s Office is an independent constitutional office and legal counsel for the state of Washington. It serves more than 200 state agencies, boards, commissions, colleges and universities, as well as governors and legislatures. The office has over 1,000 employees with locations in nearly 10 cities throughout the United States. Attorney General s Office protects the public by upholding the Consumer Protection Act and enforcing laws against anticompetitive business practices. It also proposes legislations to protect families and children. The office conducts educational campaigns and represents the state of Washington before the Supreme Court and trial courts. In addition, Attorney General s Office advises governors, members of the legislature, state officers and county prosecutors on legal issues. With a location Seattle, it has approximately 25 legal divisions.
