The Williamsburg Fire Department works to preserve and protect lives and property through fire suppression and prevention, advanced life support, and search and rescue services. It is comprised of more than 35 employees that include administrative staff members and suppression personnel. The agency also operates a volunteer unit that consists of over 25 members that serve the city and provide financial and fire ground support. The Williamsburg Fire Department maintains a communication and dispatch center that responds to emergency calls. The department utilizes a fleet of fire pumpers, trailers, mobile command trucks, utility vans and life support ambulances. It additionally conducts hazardous materials surveys and evaluations, stabilizes damaged structures and offers emergency medical care to injured persons. The Williamsburg Fire Department is a part of City of Williamsburg, Va.
