Washington and Lee University is an academic learning center that offers educational opportunities to students. Founded in 1749, it is located in Lexington, Va. The institute is comprised of undergraduate divisions that include The College and Williams School. Washington and Lee University s college offers courses in humanities, mathematics, computer sciences, journalism and mass communication, and natural and physical sciences. Its school s curriculum includes several subjects, such as commerce, economics, politics, liberal arts and business. The institute also operates the School of Law, which features various courses, including American public law process, civil procedure, criminal law, legal writing, property and torts. Washington and Lee University provides several sports activities that include soccer, volleyball, field hockey, cross-country and football. In addition, it offers various special programs, such as Medieval and Renaissance Studies, Women's Studies, African-American Studies, and Latin and Caribbean Studies. The institute employs a staff of more than 200 faculty members and enrolls over 2,000 students.
