Special Olympics Virginia is a year-round international program of sports training and athletic competition for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. It is the state program of Special Olympics Incorporated. The organization serves approximately 1.4 million persons through more than 200 programs in over 150 countries. Special Olympics Virginia offers a variety of sports activities, such as basketball, bocce, bowling, football, soccer, golf, gymnastics, swimming, and track and field. Its sports program also includes ice skating, power lifting, roller skating, sailing, skiing, softball, tennis and volleyball. The organization is located in Richmond, Va.
