Hampden-Sydney College
Hampden-Sydney College, founded in 1775, is a four-year, independent liberal arts college for men. It is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, and has an enrollment of more than 1,000 students. The college offers various programs to students, including applied mathematics, biology, chemistry, computer science, humanities, economics, English, philosophy, fine art, history, physics and political science. It provides various extracurricular activities to students, such as newspaper, yearbook, literary magazine, political and religious clubs, pep band, debates, dramatics, and it also operates a FM radio station. The college offers a variety of sports activities including, football, lacrosse, basketball, baseball, soccer, cross-country, bicycling, tennis, swimming and golf. The amenities offered by the college include library, media center, technical laboratories, dorms, dining facilities, playing fields and jogging trails. Hampden-Sydney College is located in Farmville, Va., and is affiliated with the Presbyterian Church.
