The Rugby Volunteer Rescue Squad & Fire Department, Inc. and Grayson Highlands State Park have been captivating visitors since 1976 with their immersive exhibits showcasing the rich Appalachian culture. From witnessing the traditional process of cane grinding and sorghum boiling to savoring the flavors of apple butter cooked over an open fire, this festival takes you back to a simpler time when fiddling and music-making were cherished pastimes.
In addition to the Grayson Highlands Fall Festival, the Rugby Fire-Rescue also organizes various events throughout the year, including a Sunrise Service on Easter Sunday, an annual Fish Fry in May, 4th of July festivities, and a Thanksgiving Dinner Fundraiser. All proceeds from these events go towards supporting the Rugby Volunteer Rescue Squad and Fire Department, Inc., enabling them to acquire essential emergency equipment and provide training for their dedicated team.
