Founded in 1975, the Department of Otolaryngology is a part of the Eastern Virginia Medical School and specializes in head and neck surgeries. Located in Norfolk, Va., the department provides a wide range of medical services for ear, nose and throat disorders, including complex disorders that affect the head and neck region. It offers evaluation and management services for benign and malignant processes in thyroid, parathyroid, salivary gland, paranasal sinuses and the aerodigestive tract. It also operates a voice center for a wide range of speech, voice and swallowing disorders, including spasmodic dysphonia, hoarseness and aspiration. In addition, the Department of Otolaryngology offers surgery, radiation therapy and chemotherapy services.
