Carlos and Sandy Mejias have been training Alexandria's dogs to be good canine citizens since 1975. Olde Towne School for Dogs is much more than a dog school; it is a full-service facility for pets and their owners. Skilled trainers help integrate puppies into their new families and solve problems such as barking and aggressive behavior through private lessons and day-care training sessions. Upstairs, groomers wash and expertly trim dogs of all sizes and shapes, from Yorkies with top-knots to Portuguese Water Dogs with curly locks (appointments are booked up to a year in advance). Over the years, Olde Towne School for Dogs has expanded to include more than 3,000 square feet of retail space filled with toys and treats; bedding and bowls; coats, carriers, and car seats; pet foods (including raw food diet) and potty training supplies. There is something for every pet lover at Olde Towne School for Dogs, even a special "Kitty Corner."
