History
Mountain View Memorial Park began in 1935 along what was then Highway US 220, also known as the Rocky Mount Road. The cemetery was founded by George W. Bowman, Lewis M. Bussey, and Silas W. Bernard, leading local businessmen who saw a need for a public cemetery in the area. The cemetery was operated for a number of years by John Bernard and Bill Price until they sold it to the current owners, Evergreen Development Co., Inc. of Roanoke in 1984. Over the years we have made improvements and added new programs mindful of changing needs and traditions but always with the care and comfort of the families we serve as our guiding principal.
