Monticello Avenue, a community information network is located in Charlottesville, Va. It promotes civic use of the World Wide Web by assisting community organizations in establishing Web pages. It also educates community members about the resources available online and organizes the electronic community information. Through its services it offers information on community's government services, school activities and educational opportunities, local businesses, cultural events, health and human service organizations, neighborhood associations and religious groups. The organization is jointly supported by the City of Charlottesville and the Jefferson-Madison Regional Library. It provides free space, e-mail and training and dial-in access to the Internet on the community information server for the nonprofit organizations of the surrounding area. In addition, Monticello Avenue provides public Internet access through computers on the mezzanine floor of the Central Library of Charlottesville, Va.
