Located at Harrison Lane and Lockheed Boulevard in Alexandria, Huntley Meadows Park houses one of six nature centers managed by the Fairfax County Park Authority. The 1,428-acre preserve contains wetlands and forest and is home to a variety of animals, including deer, beaver and hundreds of species of birds. A half-mile boardwalk leads to an observation tower with a view of the wetlands that is ideal for animal watching.
The park is also home to the Huntley Meadows Visitor Center, which is a perfect spot for retreats and birthday parties. The meeting room can accommodate up to 50 people and, for an additional fee, those interested can schedule a guided tour of the lush preserve. The center's gift shop sells a selection of nature-related goods, including books and stationary. For more information or to make a reservation, call the number provided or visit the park's website.
