Central Virginia Community Services, since 1969, has been a solid contributor to the behavioral health needs of central Virginia. CVCS provides quality services and promotes the health, independence and self-worth of individuals and families with a continuum of community-based prevention, early intervention, aftercare, and psycho-social rehabilitation services for persons affected by mental health, mental retardation, substance abuse, and co-occurring disorders. The service organization is dedicated to providing community education, early intervention, treatment and aftercare services. All programs at CVCS are certified by CARF, a highly respected healthcare certification body that examines procedures, operations and quality of services. The administrative programs that are accredited include: corporate compliance, quality improvement, human resources, reimbursement services, fiscal services and Information Technology. Programs accredited for adult and family and child and family include: prevention services, access to care and case management services, intensive outpatient services, intensive home-based services, crisis intervention, kindred homes and blueprints therapeutic foster care, family support programs. CVCS has offices and residential facilities in Amherst, Appomattox, Bedford City, Bedford, Campbell counties and Lynchburg, Virginia.
