The HOPE Ministry Center is an ecumenical center designed to enhance the delivery and coordination of services among multiple human service agencies. It houses various agencies, including the Appalachian Independence Center, Lutheran Family Services of Virginia and Mountain Community Action Program. The center is a part of Helping Overcome Poverty's Existence, which works toward the reduction of conditions contributing to poverty in southwestern Virginia. Incorporated in 1993, the parent organization is a human service corporation that improves the overall well-being of individuals and families. It operates in Wythe, Bland, Smyth, Carroll and Grayson in southwestern Virginia. Helping Overcome Poverty's Existence is certified by Virginia Community Housing Development Organization.
