Founded in 1985, Henderson Elementary School enrolls more than 530 students in kindergarten through grade five. It is named after Alexander Henderson, who came from Scotland to Virginia and served during the American Revolution. The school s academic curriculum includes several subjects, such as art, music, social studies, math, science, reading and physical education. Located in Dumfries, Va., it offers special education, English for the Speakers of Other Languages, foreign language immersion and in-house gifted education programs. Henderson Elementary School provides opportunities for students to participate in several extracurricular and enrichment activities, such as field days, storybook character parades, science fairs and safety patrols. It has a parent-teacher organization that meets monthly and plans several student activities throughout the year. Henderson Elementary School is a part of Prince William County Public Schools.
