The Franklin Redevelopment and Housing Authority (FRHA) was founded in 1963. Mr. J.R. Howerton was appointed the first Chairman by City Council on December 23, 1963. Today, with a staff of 13, FRHA is dedicated to providing safe, decent and sanitary housing to low and very low income families, elderly and disabled, in an environment that fosters self-sufficiency and community pride. The FRHA currently administers 209 units of Public Housing and 315 Section 8 Vouchers to families in the Franklin and Southampton surrounding area (s). Homeownership for low income families is a new concept in the City of Franklin. FRHA was approved by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development for a homeownership program in early 2004. Our vision is to be a leader in providing housing service, homeownership, urban development and revitalizing communities.
