Fairfax County maintains 41 fire stations throughout the county. This station, number 32, is one of two in Fairfax Station and one of several near Route 123. Fairview Fire Station keeps six professional firefighters (members of a staff which firefighters estimate to be about 18-25 people total) on-duty at all times, and these men and women equipped and trained to deal with emergencies in Fairfax Station and the surrounding communities. The station operates one paramedic engine and one "Advanced Life-Support" unit, but does not maintain a ladder truck.
In addition to fighting fires and providing emergency medical assistance, firefighters show residents how to safely install child seats, set-up and use smoke detectors and conduct home safety checks.
The department is part of the Northern Virginia regional response system along with the City of Alexandria, Arlington County, the City of Fairfax, Prince William County, Loudoun County, Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority, Fort Belvoir and Fort Meyer.
