The Dale City Volunteer Fire Department was founded in 1967 by the Dale City Civic Association, and owns and operates four fire and rescue stations in Dale City. Station 20, also known as the George W. Buchanan Station, hosts the administrative offices of DCVFD, as well as an engine, an ambulance and an all-terrain rescue vehicle. Professional members of the Prince William County Fire and Rescue staff the station during weekdays, while volunteers staff it during night hours, weekends and holidays.
