Chesapeake Parks and Recreation is a department that is operated by the city of Chesapeake in Virginia, and provides a variety of recreational, social and cultural activities. It has various divisions, including recreation, parks, athletics, community center, seniors, therapeutic and leisure. Additionally, the grounds maintenance division is responsible for the care, maintenance and beautification of parks, playgrounds, open spaces, and athletic fields and facilities. Its landscape services division has two sections that are responsible for the care and maintenance of more than 1,200-acres of land and over 4,000 parking spaces. The Chesapeake Fine Arts Commission serves the artistic community by educating the public about music, architecture, drama, dance, painting and sculpture. It also provides rental facilities for events, shows, plays, concerts and gatherings, including picnic parks, community centers and activity buildings. The department is located in Chesapeake.
