Charlottesville Albemarle Technical Education Center, also known as CATEC, is a secondary and postsecondary vocational and technical school. The center was opened in 1973 as jointly owned and operated facility of Charlottesville City and Albemarle County to provide technical education to high school students and adults in Virginia. It provides various educational activities to students that develop employment and professional skills, such as interviewing, resume writing, work behaviors, problem solving, critical thinking, leadership and communication skills. CATEC offers high school programs in different technical areas, including computer repair and maintenance, mechanical modeling, auto body repair, auto technology, cosmetology, culinary arts, television and video production, early childhood education, carpentry, electricity, masonry, health careers, and multimedia production. It also offers a wide variety of adult education programs in evenings to community members 16-years of age and above. Charlottesville Albemarle Technical Education Center is located in Charlottesville, Va.
