Catholic Charities USA is a nonprofit network made up of numerous independent, local Catholic Charities agencies and institutions across the United States. Its community-based programs provide services, such as adoptions, emergency food and shelter, daycare, and refugee resettlement. Catholic Charities USA supports and enhances the work of its membership by providing networking opportunities, national advocacy through media efforts, program development, training, technical assistance and financial support. Catholic Charities agencies and institutions nationwide provide vital social services to people in need, regardless of their religious, social, or economic backgrounds. Founded in 1910 as the National Conference of Catholic Charities, Catholic Charities USA is located near the nation's capital in Alexandria, Va.
