The Sanitation Division is a part of the Street and General Maintenance Department, which is governed by The City of Salem in Virginia. The division collects more than 9,000 totes on a weekly basis from residential homes and small-scale businesses. It also offers dumpster and disposal services. The Sanitation Division maintains a fleet of a brush chipper, knuckle boom crane, and semiautomated garbage and dumpster trucks. It picks up brush and bulk items from streets. The division provides cleanup services after various special events. It maintains totes that are placed in homes, businesses and parks.
