Appalachian Community Capital is a non-profit community development financial institution (CDFI) based in Christiansburg, VA, dedicated to attracting new sources of capital for small businesses, particularly minority and women-owned businesses, in underserved areas of Appalachia and similar energy communities nationwide. Established in 2016, ACC raises capital for its member CDFIs and mission-aligned lenders to provide affordable loans, business advisory services, and support to small businesses in the region.
Since its inception, ACC has raised over $40 million for its members, resulting in the financing of 123 small businesses and the creation or retention of over 2,500 jobs in Appalachia. With a focus on economic growth, entrepreneurship, and local wealth building, ACC and its members collectively manage assets exceeding $4 billion, supporting development in underserved communities and tens of thousands of locally-based jobs.
