American Industrial Hygiene Association is one of the largest international associations serving the needs of occupational and environmental health professionals practicing industrial hygiene in various industries, government agencies, academic institutions and independent organizations. Founded in 1939, AIHA is a nonprofit organization with more than 75 local sections. It has more than 11,000 members, including professionals, college graduates and postgraduates. It operates several laboratory accreditation programs based on the international standards, as well as an asbestos analyst registry program. These programs help ensure the quality of the data used in making critical worker protection decisions.
