The American Indian Higher Education Consortium (AIHEC) is a 501(c)(3) organization that serves as the collective spirit and unifying voice of the nation's 35 accredited Tribal Colleges and Universities (TCUs) and 2 developing institutions. With a mission to strengthen tribal nations and make a lasting difference in the lives of American Indians and Alaska Natives, AIHEC works to promote excellence in tribal higher education through policy advocacy, initiatives in STEM education and research, cultural resiliency training, and support for student success.
As a unique community of tribally and federally chartered institutions, AIHEC provides resources, support, and opportunities for TCUs, their faculty, staff, and students. Through partnerships, program support, and strategic planning, AIHEC aims to empower Native American students, promote indigenous research, and foster cultural and linguistic preservation. With nearly 50 years of history, AIHEC continues to be a driving force in advancing tribal higher education and sovereignty.
