It's a little piece of history within Old Town: built in 1905, this station is one of the longest-standing in the area. Serving both Amtrak and the local VRE (Virginia Railway Express), it's referred to simply as the Alexandria Station to avoid being confused with Union Station in neighboring Washington, DC. Travelers on both rail carriers have several options to get to and from the station: the DASH and the Metrobus both provide service, as do taxis sitting in front of the building. The King Street Metro station, which is served by the blue and yellow lines, is also nearby.
