Amy Lewett, owner of Affectionate Pet Care Center (APCC), knew from the time she was a little girl that she wanted to work with animals. After graduating from Woodson High School, she worked as a vet tech and pet sitter. Her pet sitting business expanded so quickly that in 2003 she bought the long-shuttered Fairfax Station Post Office building and opened Affectionate Pet Care Center (APCC). The main building houses the reception area and the daycare and boarding areas. Each hour, the dogs are taken outside in groups to romp safely on the grass in a large, fenced playground. Pets who are boarded have a human friend who stays with them overnight. Grooming facilities at APCC are located in the renovated house next door. Like the boarding, grooming is cage-free. An array of services are offered here, including nail clipping, ear washing, teeth brushing, bathing and full grooming. The list of in-home services offered by Affectionate Pet Care Center is extensive. In addition, APCC offers training individually and in groups. Private lessons can even be scheduled at your house.
