History
Back in 1945 the Ayres family settled on this 550 acre hilltop farm. Their daughter Betsy and her husband Larry took over the farm in 1990. The farm store is in what was the farmhouse kitchen, living room and dining room, and the cheese packing room was the 1865 farm house's original wood shed. Now the Luce's two sons Jeff & Ralph are active in the farm family business. They make all the maple syrup from the farm's 7000 maple trees and Jeff is in charge of aging all the extra sharp cheddar cheese & running the farm smoker to smoke cheese. The Ayres family was one of the first Vermont businesses to start selling mail order and this 2nd & 3rd generation are following through with web sales, shipping products home for visitors and keeping in contact with their customers via e mails and web specials. There is still active farming going on with a herd of cattle, draft horses, sales of hay & firewood, and farm animals for kids to interact with during the summer months.
