The Utah School and Institutional Trust Lands was created to manage real estate trusts granted to the state of Utah by the United States at statehood. It supports public education, universities and other state institutions. The trust manages a more than 3 million acres real estate portfolio for the financial benefit of over 10 beneficiaries. The Utah School and Institutional Trust Lands includes surface lands and mineral lands. Its surface management group makes surface lands available for leases for telecommunication towers, commercial and industrial enterprises, cabin sites, governmental and agriculture. The Utah School and Institutional Trust Lands manages the oil and gas resources of the lands managed by it.
