HistoryOn December 17, 1983 a small group of Utah's publishers met to form what would be known as the Utah Press Association. Since that day, the Association has continually represented Utah's newspapers and helped people gain access to print media. The purpose of the association is to function as a collective voice and legislative watch for our member newspapers. We assist the public as an economical placement service for news releases and advertising in our associate newspapers. UPA offers an electronic clipping and research service for anyone with an interest in any particular topic in the state's various newspapers. We provide print media training on a local level and two conventions each year to educate newspaper employees in all aspects of running a successful newspaper. We are a service organization that represents Utah's finest, most respected journalism.
