Around the time of the civil war, Adam Clark McCown, a blacksmith traveled from Virginia, to Missouri ending up in Oregon. His son James Garfield McCown picked up the trade continued with it in Tygh Valley, Oregon. His son Verl Franklin McCown continued the tradition with a blacksmith operation and metal fabrication business along with a family farm. He left the farm, studying CNC machining, obtained his welding training from the Steamfitters Union and later obtainined a formal education in Electrical Engineering from BYU and later a degree in business from HLG University. Chuck has been involved in some form of manufacturing his whole life. His sons Frank, Bill and Ben are currently involved in the business specializing in CNC/CAM work, robotic programming and electrical engineering.
