One of our main undertakings is to fight for passage of the national Community Choice Act, which will allow persons who need assistance to live to choose whether to receive needed assistance at home, surrounded by friends, family and neighbors, or in a nursing home. Click on the logo at the left for more information about the Community Choice Act. We are members of ADAPT -- a national grass roots activists organization fighting for the civil rights of persons with disabilities, using the principles of non-violent action. ADAPT is the main force behind the Community Choice Act effort. Click on the ADAPT logo to go to their web site and learn more about our efforts at the national level. The Disabled Rights Action Committee has partnered with the "Don't Disable the Disabled" public relations campaign to raise awareness on the importance of respecting accessible parking that is reserved for persons with disabilities, including insuring vans can deploy their lifts.
